Coaching & Games: 15th June 2015

To keep in touch with everything weekly you can keep an eye on the Coaching & Games section where fixtures and notes will be updated weekly.

20/20 Communication

As per contact from Damien all correspondence with clubs will now be conducted via email and through the club secretaries’ address ONLY. There are two addresses per club, one for the adult club (secretary.clubname.longford@gaa.ie) and one for the underage section (secretarybng.clubname.longford@gaa.ie). It is all clubs responsibility to ensure someone is monitoring these accounts and passing the information to the relevant people.

Club Development

Our three club development facilitators have been busy getting around to all our Underage Sections conducting a review or where the club is currently at as regards club development needs and this process will continue in the weeks and months ahead as clubs identify there most pressing developmental need and Longford C&G will deliver a workshop to address these needs throughout the summer.

Schools Coaching

Our school coaching has now entered its final week. In the last few weeks we have offered schools the opportunity to have blitzes run within their own school and we have a full program set out until Friday the 19th of June. This is a great opportunity for school kids to get to play organised games where otherwise they might not get the chance.

Our Primary Schools outdoor hurling championship Division 1 finals take place this Wednesday evening as Newtownforbes NS take on Killoe NS in the Shield final at 3:30 and Colehill NS play Edgeworthstown NS in the Cup final at 4:30.

Development Squad

Our U13 Skills School started last Saturday morning with a fantastic mornings coaching taking place. There was 53 players in total who were coached on the kick pass for the morning. It’s now time for the players to use the knowledge they got from the coaches and practice at home. Thanks to all the coaches who helped out in this very productive session. The next session is on Saturday the 27th.

Our U14 squad game was postponed but they did a very good session on Saturday in Longford Slashers and they will meet again this Saturday for another coaching session.

Our U15 football squad meet up this coming Saturday after a break and will be in action for the next three Saturdays.

Our U16 squad had a athlete development session on Thursday last and have another this Thursday in the Longford GAA Gym. They start back on the pitch on Sunday with a very busy period coming as the Fr Manning cup is starting on the 1st July.

Good luck to both Wolfe Tones Óg and Longford Slashers in the National hurling Feile this weekend.

All updated development squad news can be got on the Longford GAA website at http://longfordgaa.ie/development-squad-news/
