Longford GAA Coaching & Games To keep in touch with everything on a week-to-week basis you can keep an eye on the Coaching & Games section where fixtures and notes will be updated weekly. 20/20 Communication As per contact from Damien all correspondence with clubs will now be conducted via email and through the Club Underage secretaries’ address ONLY. Every Underage Section has their own secretaries address ad goes along the lines as follows: ( It is all clubs responsibility to ensure someone is monitoring this accounts and passing the information to the relevant people. Longford GAA Minor Board Golf Classic  The 21st annual Golf Classic will take place this Saturday the 22nd of October in County Longford Golf Club and will be kindly sponsored for the 2nd year my Seamus Butler MCC. Our dedicated website with all information is now live and can be accessed at The website contains all details on the various ways the Golf Classic can be supported. Funds generated from this event will all go towards underage development with our flagship initiative being the awarding of €750 bursaries to some of the members of our Elite Player Development group – further information to follow in the weeks ahead. Senior County Final Congratulations to St. Columba’s Mullinalaghta on their win last Sunday in winning their first county final in over 60 years. Also congrats to the Northern Gaels Club for taking part in the pre match and half time activities and showing the colours of both adult Clubs throughout – it was a lovely spectacle. TY Programs Last Monday seen the TY students from Cnoc Mhuire Granard undertake their coaching assessment with a group of kids from The Sacred Heart Primary School Granard. St. Mels College are also in their coaching phase as they work with St. Michaels Boys School. Both sets of TY’s will continue this coaching until the Halloween mid term. Separate to the coaching courses we have take 10 students (6 from St. Mels & 4 from Cnoc Mhuire) on work placement – every Friday for 10 weeks. We have organised a program of 2nd – 4th class Primary blitzes to take place on these Fridays where over 160 kids attend each day. The TY students help organise the blitzes and then manage a team each while also refereeing the games. They have now completed 3 weeks of blitzes and are really growing into the roles and enjoying the experience. Go Games Our Autumn schedule concluded last Wednesday with the final blitz of the season take place at U10 level. Since last April there have been in excess of 150 blitzes between U8 & U10. This takes a huge amount of organising and work from Clubs, mentors, parents and of course players to thank you all very much for ensuring these games opportunities run successfully for your kids. Longford GAA Master Fixtures & Events Calendar There is a link on our website which allows anyone to download our Masters Fixtures document as any time. This document is the template for the Official Fixtures that the Secretary distributes weekly but is not considered as Official notification of Fixtures if downloaded as only fixtures sent from the County Secretary can be considered Official. This should be people’s first port of call for information regarding Longford GAA events. We also have an Events Calendar on our website at This calendar contains everything a Longford GAA person might need to know from our full fixtures program to Club workshops to County Board meetings to National fixtures to other large sporting events so as everyone can see what’s happening in the weeks and months ahead. Any changes made will be updated on the calendar in real time and will constantly evolve as different scenarios arise. Longford GAA Website We are doing a lot of work updating or website with information and resources that people might be interested in and trying to use the website as the first source for all information someone might want to find out. Some new additions include the Master fixtures plan which can be downloaded by clicking additional information includes an updated Go Games section that includes fixtures, rules, things to know as well as U12 fixtures and rules for all our competitions. and click Downloads. We also have a new referees section that is available on the home page and finally something that is still a work in progress, as there is a lot of information to collate, but we are developing a player profile section for all our football squads that will include a photo and some player information that can be accessed through Development Squads The U13 Skill School 7 A Side tournament concluded last Monday with Dublin coming out on top (typical…). This competition had in excess of 70 kids taking part and has been another great success. Last Monday also seen the start of our Paul Barden Tournament for players born in 01 & 02 who are on our U15 & U14 Development Squads as well as a few invitational players who developed with their Clubs during the summer, round 2 games take place this Monday the 17th in Clonguish.
