Coaching & Games: 21st September 2015

To keep in touch with everything on a week-to-week basis you can keep an eye on the Coaching & Games section where fixtures and notes will be updated weekly. 20/20 Communication As per contact from Damien all correspondence with clubs will now be conducted via email and through the club secretaries’ address ONLY. There are two addresses per club, one for the adult club (secretary.clubname.longford@gaa.ie) and one for the underage section (secretarybng.clubname.longford@gaa.ie). It is all clubs responsibility to ensure someone is monitoring these accounts and passing the information to the relevant people. Development Squad Mentors As part of “20/20 Vision For Longford”, Longford GAA are now looking to recruit mentors for our various Development Squads (U13, U14, U15 & U16) for the 2016 season. The role of mentor within our squad system is a very rewarding one and comes with great responsibility as you will help mould Longford’s footballers of the future. All our squad mentors are facilitated with up skilling courses and involved in a program of continuous learning. All mentors will receive Longford gear and will be supported by Coaching & Games regarding planning and logistics. If you are interested please make contact with Damien at damien.sheridan.gda.longford@gaa.ie or 087 912 6556 Award 1 Youth Course Presentation Over the last 4 months we have conducted 5 Award 1 youth courses in 5 different clubs that was completed by 38 coaches. Paul Barden Development Squad Tournament

Longford GAA wish to acknowledge the contribution made by one of our finest footballers of all time by renaming our U15/U16 Development Squad Tournament in Paul Bardens name. Paul represented Clonguish, Longford, Leinster & Ireland with distinction throughout his GAA career. Pauls dedication, commitment, hard work and ambition to become the very best he could be is what we want to instil in future Longford Footballers. To this end we will be hosting our Paul Barden Development Squad Tournament throughout the month of October. The aim of the tournament is to expose our best footballers to a higher standard of football and to challenge those players against their own peers in an ability appropriate environment. The tournament will also serve as the selection process for both our U16 & Minor panels of 2016. It is also hoped that this tournament will inspire the next generation of players to become the Paul Bardens of the future-imagine that, a team of Paul Bardens..! The tournament will consist of 4 teams made up from the best 70 footballers in the county born in either 1999 or 2000. These teams will play off against each other on a league basis under floodlights with the top two team contesting the final on the 22nd of October. The winners will take home a specially designed, commemorative jersey and all participants will receive a beanie hat.
