Our U14 footballers had a skills session on Saturday last with another session this Saturday. Both our U15 and U16 footballers were back in action after their exams break with coaching sessions on Saturday last also. The U16 football squad also met up on Tuesday in their final preparations for the first round of the Fr. Manning Cup where they take on Westmeath in Glennon Brothers Pearse Park this Thursday at 7:30.
Unfortunately Noel suffered an injury playing with Westmeath which has taken him off his feet for the next few weeks so coaching and the U13 School of Excellence are on hold until he is back in action.

Coach Education & Workshops
Our all county programs are all complete except for our Go Games Referee course-see details below. Some of our club specific programs will include; What to do U8-U12, What to do U14-Minor, Club coaching development plan, Developing thinking players, Strength and conditioning for juvenile players, Coach mentoring program, season and session planning, spot and fix, nursery workshops etc.
Longford/Kellogg’s GAA Cúl Camps
Longford Coaching & Games aims to promote Gaelic Games within our clubs and county by providing quality coaching in a safe and fun environment for all boys and girls irrespective of ability. To that end Longford GAA in association with Kellogg’s are once again running 11 Kellogg’s GAA Cúl Camps over a five week period from: July 7th to August 8th inclusive. Our camps cover a range of activities including Gaelic Football, Hurling, Handball and Rounder’s as well as many fun games and blitzes. All our camps are mixed from 6 to 13 years. We will also be running Nursery Camps separate to the main camps for 4 – 5 year olds.

We at Bray Institute of Further Education have launched a new third level course aimed at GAA minded students at furthering their education within the framework of the GAA and also the third level system. We are looking for your help in advertising the course to any GAA minded individuals who may be interested in the course. It is open to anyone who is 17+ years and has a background in the GAA and meets the criteria set out below, course is open to both males and females as well as anyone interested in returning to education.
The course begins in Bray in September 2014 and registration is open to anyone online at www.bife.ie
interviews will be taking place over the coming months.
The course is a FETAC/QQI Level 5 course in Sports and Recreation with the course being name GAELIC GAMES & GYM INSTRUCTION. Students will also get an ITEC level 5 award in Gym Instruction.
The course is designed to prepare both male and female learners for life as a learner athlete. Existing Gaelic, Hurling and Camogie skills will be improved and applicants will also be introduced to a broad range of general coaching skills. This course will provide an initial look into the world of Sports Coaching, Sports management and Sports Education. Learners will be prepared for work in Sports Complexes, Leisure Centers, Health Clubs and Sports coaching through an integrated syllabus involving the theoretical knowledge of physical fitness and exercise, practical participation, administration and management techniques and various coaching skills. Learners will also be placed in a working environment as well as trips to different facilities within the Leisure Industry.
