Coaching & Games: 24th August 2015

To keep in touch with everything on a week-to-week basis you can keep an eye on the Coaching & Games section where fixtures and notes will be updated weekly. 20/20 Communication As per contact from Damien all correspondence with clubs will now be conducted via email and through the club secretaries’ address ONLY. There are two addresses per club, one for the adult club (secretary.clubname.longford@gaa.ie) and one for the underage section (secretarybng.clubname.longford@gaa.ie). It is all clubs responsibility to ensure someone is monitoring these accounts and passing the information to the relevant people. Underage Match Monitors In the last few week’s Longford GAA have sent a monitor to observe a number of matches from U8 to minor level to observe a number of areas including Code of Conduct adherence, Respect Initiative adherence, standards of facilities, conduct of spectators to name a few. To date a number of issues have been flagged and Longford GAA will be working with the clubs and relevant stakeholders to address the issues, find solutions and implement change so that our games can be a more enjoyable experience for all concerned. We appreciate all clubs cooperation and assistance throughout this process. Development Squads The U13 Skill School had another fantastic session on Saturday in Pearse Park. 44 players took part in the shooting session which focused on their technique and accuracy. Their final coaching session takes place on September 5th. Both our U14 and U15 football squads had a very worthwhile session with Dublin star forward Ciaran Kilkenny. This was a great opportunity for the players with one of Gaelic footballs real superstars. The players had some great questions and were given some great advice to work on their skills. Last Sunday both our U14 and U16 hurling squads traveled to Mullingar to play challenge games versus Raharey and then they traveled to the All Ireland semi final between Galway and Tiperary. It was a very worthwhile trip for the squads getting in good game time. This weekend coming, the U16 and U14 hurlers have a big weekend playing in the All Ireland C tournaments. Best of luck to all players and coaches , we will have a report on the weekends action next week.
