Good Luck Good luck to our senior footballers that take on Dublin this Sunday in Croke Park in the LSFC quarterfinal and also to all our county minors and development squad players who sit state exams in the weeks ahead. 20/20 Communication As per contact from Damien recently all correspondence with clubs will now be conducted via email and through the club secretaries’ address ONLY. There are two addresses per club, one for the adult club (secretary.clubname.longford@gaa.ie) and one for the underage section (secretarybng.clubname.longford@gaa.ie). It is all clubs responsibility to ensure someone is monitoring these accounts and passing the information to the relevant people. 20/20 Vision For Longford Coaching Workshops Code Of Ethics Course On Friday the 5th of June we will be holding a Code of Ethics and Best Practice in Sport Course. Schools Coaching Last week we ran the five remaining 3rd/4th class blitzes in Granard on Tuesday the 19th and Longford Slashers on Wednesday 20th and Thursday the 21st. the last 2 weeks were a great success as over 800 boys and girls attended blitzes throughout the county. The success of these blitzes would not be possible without the co-operation of the local Post Primary School and their TY students. On the Tuesday over 30 young men and women from Cnoc Mhuire Granard assisted as they managed the 14 teams and refereed the games. On the Wednesday we had 22 from St. Mels and on the Thursday we had 20 from Scoil Mhuire Longford who again managed the 14 teams and refereed the games. Last week seen the commencement of our Primary Schools outdoor hurling championship as the league phase of division 1 pucked off. This Thursday see the blitz day take place for those schools in divisions 2 and 3. Development Squad Our U14 football panel started their intercounty careers in Thurles Co Tipperary as they took part in a blitz where we fielded two ballanced teams against Wexford and Tipperary. Both sides had different experiences as one side found it tough in both games with the other team getting two wins from their matches. It was a good learning curve for all players and their coaches and will identify things to me worked on in their upcoming sessions. This groups next activities will be a coaching session on the 6th of June followed by a game a week later against Westmeath on the 13th.
