This document is the template for the Official Fixtures that the Secretary distributes weekly but is not considered as Official notification of Fixtures if downloaded as only fixtures sent from the County Secretary can be considered Official. This should be people’s first port of call for information regarding Longford GAA events. We also have an Events Calendar on our website at This calendar contains everything a Longford GAA person might need to know from our full fixtures program to Club workshops to County Board meetings to National fixtures to other large sporting events so as everyone can see what’s happening in the weeks and months ahead. Any changes made will be updated on the calendar in real time and will constantly evolve as different scenarios arise. Longford GAA Website We are doing a lot of work updating or website with information and resources that people might be interested in and trying to use the website as the first source for all information someone might want to find out. Some new additions include the Master fixtures plan which can be downloaded by clicking additional information includes an updated Go Games section that includes fixtures, rules, things to know as well as U12 fixtures and rules for all our competitions. and click Downloads. We now have all underage mentors contacts available by following and clicking the relevant tab. We also have a new referees section that is available on the home page and finally something that is still a work in progress, as there is a lot of information to collate, but we are developing a player profile section for all our football squads that will include a photo and some player information that can be accessed through Underage Club Workshops The roll out of our 54 workshops for the year concludes this week. This program of workshop delivery was a huge undertaking, which we delivered upon. Most Clubs engaged with the initiative with some Clubs having greater buy in than others and as a result getting more out of the workshops but as always there were some Clubs who did not take up a workshop or failed to attend the session. The background to these workshops were that for 2016 we decided to put a comprehensive program in place where every Underage Section will receive three Workshops delivered within their own Club, for their own mentors and specific to their own Clubs needs. All the dates were assigned and communicated to Clubs well in advance and on an on-going basis thereafter. This program proved a great success for those Clubs who bought into it and made the most of their workshops but unfortunately some Clubs failed to make use of their dates with some failing to have anyone attend the workshops which was really disappointing on a number of levels. U15 & U17 Regional League Our U17 and U15 Regional Leagues have both reached finals stage with the U15 decider between West Longford (St. Colmcille’s/St. Francis & St. Vincents) and Clonguish Óg/Killoe Óg taking place this Monday the 27th. The U17 final has been deferred until next week and will be contested by Killoe Óg and Longford Slashers. The idea behind these Leagues was to provide football for players NOT sitting State exams during a time that would normally be closed shop for Minor & U16 fixtures. If a player is under age and wishes to play in the competition they could but the competition was mainly for those not sitting State Exams. The competitions had been designed so as to provide 15 a side football with players given the opportunity to play at a higher standard than might normally be the case. U12 Longford Leitrim Mini League Our U12 Longford Leitrim Mini Leagues are at semi final stages this week with our Longford only group playing their last round of group games. Please see the Master Fixtures Document for the most up to date fixtures. Development Squads All information on our squads will be updated on our website at and clicking the relevant squad. Kellogg’s GAA Cúl Camps Our Kellogg’s GAA Cúl Camps are now just around the corner and in recent days bookings have been coming in thick and fast and 2016 promises to be another bumper year for the camps within the County. Last week seen our team of coaches and volunteers attend 2 training days in preparation for the camps and as all our coaches will have at least a foundation award, have completed the Code of Ethics and Best Practice in Sport course and be Garda Vetted we will ensure that the GAA Cúl Camps provide the highest quality of coaching amongst all camps this and every summer. The Kellogg’s GAA Cúl Camp website is live and can be view at where all details of our camps can be accessed and online bookings are the best way of making you booking and it ensures that your gear will be available during the camp (the same cannot be said with on the day bookings)..
