Longford 1-18 London 0-06
Longford kept their push for promotion on track with a convincing 15 point win over London in Ruislip on Saturday.
After three games Longford have five points from a possible six. They have huge games coming up with Waterford at home next Sunday followed by Wicklow (a), Offaly (h) and Carlow (a).
This game was played in dreadful conditions but Longford did what they came over to the English capital to do; put in a decent performance and come home with 2 points. They were minus the services of Michael Quinn and Brian Kavanagh for this game as well as the U21 players.
Longford made a very good start to the game and were ahead by six points at the break; 0-08 to 0-02.
Paul McKeon got the game’s only goal in the 45th minute to stretch Longford’s lead to 12 points. Sean McCormack and wing-back Colm P. Smyth followed up with points as Longford continued to turn the screw on London.
Cavan’s Lorcan Mulvey and Alan O’Hara replied with points for London before Longford added on more points through Paul McKeon (free), McCormack, Francis McGee and subs Conor Quaine and Padraig Gill.
Scott Conroy and substitute Shane Buckley got late points for London as Longford now look towards tougher games in the coming weeks.
