Noel Caslin Remembered

It is with great sadness that we have learned of the death , on Sunday 29th. June,  of Noel Caslin. Noel and the late Tommy O’Brien were the founders of Longford Slashers G.A.A. club in 1954. A native of Rooskey, Co. Roscommon, Noel came to Longford back in 1949 and played football then with Young Grattans and Whiterock Slashers. He was a regular on the County Longford Senior teams in the early 50’s and was described in press reports as a strong no-nonsense forward and a player capable of running rings around any player. It is his football career in the Slashers colours that will always be remembered. His contribution to Longford Slashers as Chairman, Secretary and Treasurer was immense and his part in achieving a home for the club at Farneyhoogan will be his lasting legacy.

A Co. board delegate for many years, he was always willing to contribute to matters relating to County affairs. He will be greatly missed  by all Longford Gaels and especially his club Longford Slashers.

We extend our sincere sympathies to his wife Eileen, his children Maeve, Dermot, Niall, Sheena, Cormac, Eimear, Clodagh, Olivia and his extended family.
