Stonepark hold off late rally to win title
Stonepark NS 5-7
St. Michael’s 4-9
Leading comfortably in the closing stages, Stonepark NS were given a real fright in this entertaining and closely fought Division 2B final as St. Michael’s scored a late goal and point to close the gap to just one. However, Stonepark managed to see out the remaining minutes to hold for a win.
Michael’s took the early advantage when Maciej Szczerba fisted the ball to the Stonepark net in the opening minutes.
As the half wore on, Stonepark worked their way back into the game and took the lead with Sean Flanagan’s 14th minute goal. The same player pounced again with his and his side’s second goal to give Stonepark the half-time lead, 2-5 to 1-6.
