2026 Allianz Hurling League Division 4 Final

Longford’s Senior Hurlers have been in impeccible form throughout the 2026 Allianz Hurling League and rightly secured their place in the League Final and with it a spot in Division 3 with a round to Spare.

Having started the campaign with a hugely positive win away to Leitrim in Carrick-on-Shannon, Longford produced a marvellous display in Michael Fay Park to seal a fantastic win against one of the early promotion favourties Cavan and set themselves up for a real tilt at promotion and a League final spot. This was followed with very impressive wins away to Monaghan and Lancashire and a draw with Warwickshire at Páirc na hÉireann in Birmingham sealed promotion for Diarmuid Cahill’s men for the first time since 2019.

Last weekend’s fixture against Sligo would earn home advantage for the Final for the winners and Longford got off to a flying start with 3 goals in the opening 15 minutes from Joe Rabbitt and Micheál Mulcahy (2). Sligo gradually found their grove and tghe sides were level at the break. A stroog second half display from the Yeats County saw them secure home advantage for the final but Longford will be eager to cause a similar upset to the 2019 final when they claimed the League title after extra time against next Saturday’s opposition!

The presence of a rousing and vociferous Longford support will play a major role in the Blue and Gold’s quest for the Division 4 League title next Satruday at 2pm in Markievicz Park in Sligo.
