2026 Allianz Football League Division 4 Final

Longford’s Senior Footballers pulled off the most remarkable of comebacks, recovering from 11 points down with 20 minutes to go against Wicklow last Sunday to snatch a promotion spot with a point at the death from Daniel Reynolds to seal their place in the Division 4 Final and a spot among the competitors for Division 3 next year!

The team showed huge progress throughout the campaign after a poor start against London and rallied with three wins and a draw from their next four outings. After a chastening defeat by Leitrim in Carrick-on-Shannon in Round 6, Longford’s back was to the wall when Wicklow came to Glennon Brothers Pearse Park last Sunday and a slow start looked to have put paid to our promotion hopes but a never say die attitude saw Longford hang in and reduce a 12 point deficit to 6 at the break and then close an 11 point second half Wicklow lead to win the day and send the Longford faithful into scenes of rapture at the full time whistle.

The Division 4 title is the prize on offer next Saturday March 28th at 5pm in Croke Park when Longford take on Carlow in what is sure to be a cracker! Carlow will be eager not to get caught for a second time this year against the Blue and Gold after Longford were impressive 5 point winners when the sides met on March 1st and there will be litte between the sides.

The vocal support of the Longford fans was crucial to last weekend’s stunning win over Wicklow and it will be equally as important next Saturday.
